KliBA, the Climate Protection and Energy Advice Agency Heidelberg and neighbouring municipalities, was founded on 17th March 1997 as an independent energy advice agency for the Rhine-Neckar region. By now, 14 cities and municipalities of the Rhine-Neckar and Sparkasse Heidelberg area around Heidelberg have signed the KliBA partnership contract, thus guaranteeing their 340.000 inhabitants an independent expert service on energy saving and climate protection.
The concept was jointly elaborated at the Heidelberg Energy Round Table by craftsmen and architects, housing associations, houseowners, flatowners, landowners, the tenants' association, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and various other organizations.
KliBA is part of a network of over 200 European energy agencies receiving financial support from the European Commission in the context of the SAVE II programme.
KliBA's work is assisted and given technical support by the advisory council, which mostly consists of the members of the Heidelberg Energy Round Table.
